A search engine without a database?

Well, not exactly. There isn't a database like MYSQL or Microsoft Access, but there is a database. This search system uses an 'Amorphous database'. A simple search engine without external dependencies. The data is contained witin the coding of the pages and the search functions are carried out using 'Javascript'.

The advantages of this search system are that it is platform independent and you can create a searchable website that can be written to CD or DVD and the search will still work on a computer that isn't connected to the internet.

Test the search

To test the search function, enter the keyword 'red'. You will see that this 'keyword' returns no search results.
Now enter the keyword 'blue', this keyword returns 2 results.
The search for 'yellow' returns one result and the search for 'color' or Colour' returns three results.

About this page

This can be your 'index' or your 'Search' page depending on your website design and layout. Anything can go here, although this section of the page drops when the search results are shown. So you may want to have an 'index' page that links to a separate 'search' page. You can also put the search section on every page of your website should you wish.
